"Life in the office" - chapter 4
1 PM
JANE: Hello! Sir! May I come in?
ROBERT: Of course Jane. How may I help you?
JANE: You’ve asked me to come at one … about plane tickets, Sir.
ROBERT: Oh! Yes! Of course! I’ve completely forgotten about it. Too much work and too many things to do at the same time. Sit down Jane, please.
JANE: You mentioned that you need one ticket round trip to Chicago for next Wednesday. ROBERT: Change of plans, I am afraid. I need two tickets to Boston for Sunday. Then I need to get to Chicago on Wednesday and be back here by next Saturday. JANE: Will you need two tickets to Chicago from Boston and two tickets back here as well?
ROBERT: Exactly
JANE: Who is the second person, if I may ask. I need the other person’s name. Is that going to be your wife, Sir? Or perhaps someone else.
ROBERT: Don’t be so suspicious. I am not married Jane. The other person is Miss Alice Hopkins and she is my fiancée.
JANE: Miss Alice Hopkins. Very well Sir. Two single rooms or one double room?
ROBERT: One double room. A big one.
JANE: Anything in particular that I should know?
ROBERT: Yes. Alice is a vegetarian and she loves roses.
JANE: Very well Sir. I will get back to you as soon as I book your flight.
FEW MINUTES LATER
AIRLINES: TGFD. How may I help you?
JANE: Good afternoon, Mme. I need two tickets from Warsaw to Boston for Sunday.
AIRLINES: We have one flight on that day. Let me see …. departs at 2 pm … or you can fly to Paris at 8 in the morning and we have a flight from there at noon so that would save you two hours.
JANE: Departure at 2 pm will be just fine.
AIRLINES: Business or economy?
JANE: Business, please. And we also need two tickets from Boston to Chicago for next Wednesday and two tickets from Chicago back to Warsaw for Saturday. All business class.
AIRLINES: We depart from Boston to Chicago every two hours starting 7 in the morning. JANE: Can you book my flight for 9 in the morning then?
AIRLINES: Of course. 9 am that is. We have a problem with the flight from Chicago to Warsaw. We don’t have any free places.
JANE: Oh! no! Can you suggest anything?
AIRLINES: You can fly from Chicago to London at 4:45 pm and take the flight from London to Warsaw at 9 pm. You should be home by 11 pm.
JANE: OK. I’ll take it. Oh! And one of the people is a vegetarian so please make a note of it.
AIRLINES: Certainly Mme. We have two tickets from Warsaw to Boston for Sunday, departure at 2 pm. Then two tickets from Boston to Chicago for Wednesday at 9 am and two tickets for the flight from Chicago to London departing at 4:45 pm and two tickets for the flight to Warsaw from London departing at 9 pm. Is everything correct?
JANE: Absolutely.
AIRLINES: Now I need those people’s names.
JANE: Robert Brown and Alice Hopkins
AIRLINES: Very well, Mme. That will be two thousand and fifty eight dollars. Cash at the airport or credit card.
JANE: Please charge it to our company’s credit card.
AIRLINES: Can you give me the credit card number then?
JANE: It’s Master Card. The number is 3456 4564 5678 4565
AIRLINES: Let me confirm that. It’s 3456 4564 5678 4565
JANE: That’s correct. The payee is XYZ company.
AIRLINES: Thank you very much. Tickets can be picked up at the airport counter two hours before the flight departure. Will there be anything else?
JANE: No. Thank you very much.
